About the release
Cecilie Bahnsen and ASICS are back for their sixth collection together, and this time the canvas is the Gel-Kinetic FR — a hybrid pulling from the GEL-Frantic and Kinetic lines with a stacked heel, low forefoot, and enough surface area for Bahnsen to properly go to work. Two colourways drop side by side: 'Piedmont Grey' (style code 1203B171-20) and 'Black Coffee' (1203B171-001). Retail £175 per pair.
Both pairs share the same architecture — debossed, embossed and high-frequency floral motifs pressed directly into the material, Bahnsen's signature drawcord laces paired with flower-shaped eyelets, adjustable Velcro straps, a softly padded half tongue, and small design flourishes including flower charms, delicate beads and transparent overlays. Underneath, the sculptural GEL heel structure stays intact for lightweight cushioning and impact absorption. Micro-textured base finish catches light with a strobe-like highlight. 'Piedmont Grey' — Design and details
The Piedmont Grey is the louder, more overtly Y2K-referencing of the two pairs. It leans hard into metallic silver overlays across most of the upper, riding the year's ongoing silver / patent leather revival across fashion. Where the shoe pulls its balance from is the softer accent work — soft pink around the midsole, and a light green outsole providing pastel colour breaks without taking over the shoe. The result is a metallic build that stays wearable rather than overwhelming.
Floral graphics land in consistent zones — far end of the forefoot strap, toebox, tongue and heel — pressed into the metallic material via the same deboss / emboss / high-frequency treatment as the Brown pair. The Y2K silver reads more overtly futurist here than heritage, giving the Piedmont Grey a proper style-forward daily rotation position.
'Black Coffee' — Design and details
The Black Coffee is the more grounded of the two — the pair for anyone who wants the design details without the metallic loudness. The upper runs a mix of earthy dark brown leather and black patent leather overlays, with the patent finish handling the forefoot strap and most of the accent zones. Reads as a formal-adjacent execution — bordering on dress-shoe territory in tone if not silhouette.
Most of the pair's colour contrast is reserved for the heel, where blue-green accents appear around the rear midsole and through the exposed GEL cushioning. It's a smart placement — the heel is already the shape's busiest zone, so concentrating the accent colour there gives the rest of the shoe room to breathe.

This is the sixth collection between Cecilie Bahnsen and ASICS, and one of the more considered ongoing fashion x sportswear partnerships in the market. Bahnsen is a Copenhagen-based designer known for a couture-infused language of modern femininity — voluminous silhouettes, romantic florals, considered material work. Her ASICS collabs have consistently worked within ASICS's technical performance heritage rather than fighting it, taking runner silhouettes and layering her own design vocabulary on top.
Recent chapters have included a two-pair monochrome Gel-Quantum 360 I pack in April 2026, a floral Gel-Cumulus 16 pack, and a GT-2160 'Mary Jane' execution. The Gel-Kinetic FR is arguably the most ambitious silhouette she's had to work with so far — the model's hybrid stacked-heel / low-forefoot geometry gives Bahnsen more surface area and more visual weight to shape. The result feels less like a collab overlay and more like a fully Bahnsen-designed shoe that happens to sit on ASICS tooling.
